If you can’t decide between the two, why not choose both? Integrating a period of cocktail service is easy, and a great way to enjoy the best of both worlds.  

Welcome canapes are a fabulous way for guests to enjoy a period of cocktail service on arrival, which can tame their initial hunger, and provide some time to circulate prior to being seated.

Or perhaps you could offer a roving dessert, which could be a selection of sweet canapes, or a version of your chosen plated dessert presented in a stand-up friendly dessert jar.
